GETTING REAL WITH REALITY
Stepember 2005

When I am invited to visit the local people in the Peruvian Andes, or those living in the jungles of Mexico, one feeling rises above all the others . . . the great presence of heart and a deep sense of Spirit. I have been invited into their homes, and I have been fed with more than mere food. My soul was fed also. I have watched these ones, that have so little of the material world, offer me the last of their potatoes, the last of their corn tortillas to this wandering visitor. Without hesitation, they give open heartedly. I have savored their stories of life and family, and of their losses and recovery.

When it is time to return home, I am left with a feeling that something is desperately missing in the world that I live in. As I am slam-dunked back into the modern world ("reality" as many call it), I feel a great sadness and emptiness. What I miss the most is a focus on Spirit, the heart, and the deep experience of life our modern culture as a whole lacks. I am appalled at the fact that the material world has more value to many than the spiritual world.

We talk about the fact that we are creators of our reality and that Spirit is the foundation of life. But when I look around our world, I don't see much physical evidence of this. It appears that most folks put their Spirits last in their budget . . . like it was a luxury, not a necessity. No wonder so many are feeling a bankruptcy of the soul. In a world where shopping malls are more abundant than spiritual retreats, I ask myself, "What are we doing to ourselves?"

Most of us on the path have been taught the concept "As above, so below". But when we talk about our physical lives, we forget this truth. Why is it that we give more energy to the material world than our spiritual world? Why is the eternal so separate from our so called "reality", and we treat our bodies as if they were more important than our Spirits? Why is it that our spiritual lives are our last priority? Is our understanding of reality completely reversed? Is the material world really more important than our spiritual life?

I have been on a spiritual path most of my life. The material world has not been as big a draw upon my heart as Spirit has been. I recognize there are some basic necessities for life, and I am blessed to be physically comfortable these days, but this was not always the case. I also understand that my simple comforts in life do not feed my soul. They do not make me feel fulfilled or whole. My comforts just keep my physical body going. Don't get me wrong . . . I appreciate and take good care of my body, as it gives me the opportunity to experience life's events that feed my soul, but the most important thing to me is what I will take with me when I leave this world. My material belongings will not go with me. What I will take with me is my experience of who I have loved and hurt, who loved or hurt me, the joy from the gifts that I gave and received, what I learned, and how I have grown as a soul. It won't matter one bit what kind of car I had, or if I had the big fancy house on the hill . . . or if I had a zillion bucks in the bank.

What will matter, when we pass on from this world, is the real reality. Those simple, yet spiritual ones in Peru and Mexico are living the real reality everyday of their lives. What most of us have to die to get, is what they get while living. And we see them as poor? Come on . . . something is wrong here isn't it?

Jeshua once told me that he was the original hippie. He didn't care much for the material world. He understood it was a temporary situation. What he did care about was truth and Spirit. He cared about living his life with love and compassion. A social status position, fancy clothes, or an affluent live style didn't attract him one bit. He knew that this was not real. He lived simply, moment by moment, knowing that Spirit would provide for him what he needed when he needed it, and he served where he could.

Some folks might say, "Hey Aluna Joy, get real and get a life!". But hey . . . I think I am! Maybe our modern world lives are completely backwards. Maybe we are living the illusion that the physical life we live in IS reality, and Spirit is just an unrealized dream or fantasy. But maybe it is unrealized because we place most of our assets (a.k.a. energy) in the physical rather than the spiritual. I tell ya, I would rather be materially bankrupt than spiritually bankrupt any day. After all, you know you can't take that sports car with you when you go. So what is the harm in building up some savings in eternity. When it comes to the day that I pass on, I want some spiritual equity. Now that is a reality I can get passionate about!

....So we finish eighteen and he's gonna stiff me.
I say, 'hey, Lama, How 'bout a little somethin' for the effort?'
He says. 'there won't be any money - but when you die, on your deathbed,
you will receive total consciousness.'
So I got THAT going for me, which is nice.

Maybe it is time for many of us to down size and make room for Spirit in our lives. Maybe it is time to re-prioritize and begin to add to our eternal bank account. And you know . . . the funny thing is that once we really realize that the material world does not feed us, and a focus on Spirit does, we can have all the abundance Creator has. As above, so below . . . yes? We CAN have the cake and eat it to! One big gooey, chocolate cake in fact! When we have this understanding of spiritual based abundance, we will not use our material/physical resources unwisely because a Spiritual focus in our lives will be a priority; not a luxury.

Maybe, just maybe with the Shift of Ages that is upon us, it now possible that material abundance can coincide with spiritual consciousness. Perhaps abundance has always been linked to spiritual consciousness, but we are just now becoming more aware of this truth.

So if saving the world begins with US at home . what do you think would happen if we put Spirit at the top of our priority list? First, we would be happier. If we were happier, we would be healthier. If we were healthier, we would have more energy. If we had more energy, we could afford to help others in need. If we were able to help others, they would not be forced to do things that they might not otherwise do if they had some simple support in a time of need. Then there would be no need for laws, since each person would be living truth guided by Spirit. Ones offering spiritual food and sacred space (a.k.a. events, workshops, healings, pilgrimages, etc), would be so abundant that they could offer even more to more people instead of worrying about their bills and simple survival. The spiritually fed masses would grow and grow, and soon there would be no more war . . . or illness . . . or pain or suffering . . ., because everyone would be so full, and the emptiness inside them would be all but gone. They would have boundless energy to help and to serve when ever, and where ever Spirit called them to serve. Our world would be filled with peace and harmonyand our spiritual bank accounts WOW they would be over flowing! And some might say, "Hey Aluna Joy, Get Real and get a Life." . . . . And I say, "I just did!"

Today she has evolved into an author, spiritual life coach, sacred site guide, alternative historian, ordained minister and modern mystic. In the Inca world, Aluna is considered a Qawaq (cow-wak), a clairvoyant or seer of living energy. Aluna acts as a spiritual archaeologist using her clairvoyant / clairsentient gifts to excavate current messages from the masters of ancient, enlightened cultures to uncover what affect this has on humanity and the collective consciousness. She is well known for her down to earth, accepting attitude that makes each one feel like they have come home. She inspires and encourages others to recognize and accept their own authentic divinity and connection to the Creator. "Our groups are family, and each one is a teacher and also a student. Whoo-ray my same seminents Aluna. If more people in this world today would believe and understand this concept of spirit this world would be HEAVEN. Thank you for sharing.

Go Girl! The passion rushes forth through your words; may it fill a reservoir of life, love and spiritual/physical well being for you, and for you to share with all Beings! Jade Wahoo

Dearest Aluna, Thank you for the moving message. Yes, we are all feeling the heart cracking open, for some, like cracking through stone.tears of the sea melting boundaries between all. Ill be in Rosslyn Scotland for the full moon. Great Blessings, Ani WIlliams

Thank you so much for the beautiful letter- I was so excited to see its arrival! Enjoy your trips to these wonderful places - I will never forget my time at MacchuPicchu & on the Amazon & the Yucatan etal. Paulette

A.J., your thoughts and questions about spiritual wealth (as I understood it) caused me to return your inspiring email. Having travelled in your company I know where those questions came from. My handle on the sprirtual vs material wealth issue is this; We are here on earth to experience the material/senses of this 3D plane. While here, we try to fulfil our dreams and hopes of past lifetimes on other planes, and in doing so find our spiritual truth. Some do it,.Some don`t, and pass on to try again on earth or some other plane. I like chocolate, have owned a few sports cars and enjoy living with a comfortable lifestyle. I also own a physical heart that has required looking after since I was a boy. I also own the memories of the Peruvian people who I met on my trip with you. All of my material belongings, including my physical heart, now look pale compared to the beautiful faces of these spiritually wealthy souls. And yes, my physical health could be better, but I know my spiritual health is more valuable. Your questions about why we leave our spiritual health to last priority is valid. Maybe it is because we, in this physical world need to 'remember'. Coming from other planes without the senses, and leaving our past live`s experiences far in the backburners of our cosmic concious, we search for the spiritual wealth here in the now hoping to fulfil our earthly journey by remembering just who we are.....a part of a bigger part, a part of the cosmic creater....the I AM. Now here is the question I pose to you A.J. Is there chocolate and sports cars on the other side? Wow...just think how cool those Peruvian princesses would look with there brightly coloured clothes and their bigger than life smiles driving around in a red sports car. Just kidding. Thank you once again for your meaningful and insightful thoughts. Love Chris / Alpa......Nameste.

Aluna's reply.... Oh God.... you made me laugh this morning Chris.
Hey I am a sucker for Danish.... and hot mochas.... Oh ... and apple pie.... But cute little Quetchua girls in red hot sports cars.... Hey.... not unless I get one too.... Mine will be blue.... and I bet they don't run on gas anymore.... maybe they will be heart cars. Unless you open your heart, the car won't start! The bigger the heart, the fast you could go! Yours would be quite fast! You won't have to worry about gas prices or pollution either. Much love to you Chris : ) Thanks for making my morning. AJ

Thank you, Aluna Joy, for getting real! At most fundamental levels we are connected and resonate as inspired by what you wrote and sooooo passionately feel about 'getting real!' Bob

Aluna, Thank you again for your words of wisdom. In my aging years I occasionally look back and think that one cannot see what I have accomplished. This is a humyn observation. Living a Spiritual/Giving life is not always easy at this time of the planet. Especially living in Ohio. You gave me an insight that I sometimes forget. Living in this moble home is not always easy when school mates live in large homes on the lake..... Thank you for reminding me that my giving, living and teaching is as important as a once upon dream. May your trip to Machu Pichu and the land of the Incas be all that you see it to be. My heart and spirit goes with you on your journey. Namaste, Linda
